Portraits

An ongoing series of portraits created using graphite pencils.

Alongside the figures, Emilie creates amorphous forms automatically; fluid yet concentrated structures that float around her subjects. She conceptualizes these forms as representations of thoughts. Sticky and aqueous like oil. Hard to break but light as feathers. Periodic and painful. Exquisite essence.

Some portraits contain other images, these are a nod to nostalgia and memories that we can collectively recognise.
